This scene... What can I say about this scene? I've always counted Donoterase as the episode that set off my obsession with The Pretender. If I had to pinpoint the exact moment the obsession began, it was probably during this scene. I'm surprised just how much of the dialog I typed from memory. XD
I'd been a fan for a couple of years already, head over heals for Jarod/Miss Parker for almost as long, and rooting for Parker to take a stand against the Centre in some way or another for forever. And here she is, going against the Centre to try and help the boy, even when faced with what she assumed was Sydney's betrayal. It was an amazing step for her character and she was basically going at it alone. What was she planning on doing with the boy if she succeeded? I wish this change in her had been explored more thoroughly. If Season 4 had only taken a different turn... Ah well.

I'm over here. I'm sorry, I didn't hear you come in. Do you want me to do something for you?
No. I just came to talk.
Talk? You don't want anything?
Just to see you.

You all right?
Yeah, I'm fine. Ready to work.
You were crying.
No, I wasn't! I-- I just... Don't tell Mr Raines. He gets angry if I show any emotion. It won't happen again, I promise.
It's OK to cry.
No, it's not. Not for me. I'm here to serve, to do what I'm told.
Is that what Raines taught you?
Yes. That I've been gifted with the intelligence designed to help others. Mr Raines said emotions get in the way.

If you don't want me to work, then why are you here?
When I was your age, I knew a boy just like you. Exactly like you. I felt for him, but I never let him know. I saw... pain in his eyes, but I looked the other way. I see the same pain in your eyes, but I can't look away anymore.
I don't understand.

Do you want to be here, or do you want to do what other kids do?
What do other kids do?
Play. Have fun. Experience life.
Is this a simulation?
No. No, this is real.

I'm doing what I want to do. Sims to help others.
Then why were you crying?
I- I wasn't. I just...

It's OK... It's OK.
If Mr Raines finds out, he'll get angry. And when he gets angry, he... he... he...
I won't let them hurt you anymore, I promise. Now, we've got to get you out of here.

He's not going anywhere with you.
