hjsnapepm: (sim dex squee)

I've finally got my game back in (almost) working order. I've been playing my Gissings, who I've barely touched since last summer, because I decided to throw a twist at my current heir to make it interesting to play the family again. I've been wondering where this sim got some of his facial features, so tonight I figured I'd try to trace various features from Gen 1 through Gen 5. Yes, I was bored. :P

I managed a brown-haired offspring from a blond and a red head. Talk about surprising. I read about hair dyed townies, but I'd forgot which ones they were. I hadn't realized until tonight that Marianne got Jan's jaw.

I don't think I could have been luckier with the combination of genetics in Gen 3. Even though I've grown weirdly fond of Brandon's template, Harry could have ended up seriously, seriously strange looking with a different combo. As it is, he's just kind of... permanently happy. Even when he frowns, he tends to look happy. It's Brandon's squinty eyes, they make him look like he's smiling when he's not.

I must have some sort of radar for townies who dye their hair. Two in a row, sheesh. I thought I'd be stuck with brown forever until I found out Brandon's naturally a red head.

I'm not really sure whose cheek bones Harry inherited. They seem like an OK match for both parents. This is where I started to wonder if Harry got Brandon's chin and Marianne's upper jaw, but I decided it was too close to call and I wanted to get to sleep sometime this century.

Tricksey, tricksey eye shape Brenda. Only slightly rounder than Harry's and combined with his eye brows I never truly noticed Matthew inherited them.

This was an exercise in heir picking. I was trying to figure out why I chose Matthew over his brothers when they looked so similar to each other. I think it subconsciously came down to Brenda's eyes and Harry's lips, because they all got Brenda's jaw and Harry's cheek bones. Very subtle differences I know I didn't consciously notice. Also of note, I'd never paid any attention to sim ears, with the exception of the elf variety. Red-headed Elliott got mum's ears and I never knew.

The main facial feature I was trying to trace? That freaking jaw. I knew logically it had to come from Felicia (whose name I still always forget) but I wanted to be sure. Also, Phil's first child was just born, and he inherited what I assumed to be the Brandon Lillard eyes I thought I had been stuck with for generations. Funny how that turned out.

The Gissing nose made it five generations intact. However, unless the skintone is misleading, Phil's firstborn doesn't have it. I can't decide if I should try for more babies for the nose or just let that last bit of the Gissing Legacy truly come to a close. As far as I can tell, there won't be any other original features from the founder left, unless Harry's cheek bones really did come from Marianne and not Brandon.

I love looking at genetics and tracing it through the family lines. I thought this was great!

I need to find Brenda. She's beautiful...for a Sim. ;)

Thanks!

Brenda is very pretty. She's spawned at two different Academie Le Tour campuses for me, with the short dreads.

I don't normally play that college. I'll have to look for her now. Thanks!

As far as I can see she has the same face template as this townie who walks around. She has blonde hair, tan skin and green eyes. The one with the white top, green skirt and pink leggings (or the other way around XD). I believe she's called Magda. :)

This was pretty interesting and I have to say I like the jaw, it's strong, it's the cheek bones that I'm wondering about. :P

I like the jaw, too. It's a very welcome change in the family, but it was so unexpectedly strong I just had to see. I wish I could recognize Felicia's template, so I could see what the male version was. The cheek bones, gosh. They are teh huge. And dominant, it seems.

Genetic studies are cool :-) Would love to see you carry this on down to more generations.

Eee, I love seeing stuff like this. :D Your founder is the one from the legacy_writers first founder challenge, right? I need to get back to playing his family in my game.
