Well, it was inevitable, I guess.
Jun. 20th, 2010 10:51 pmI haven't watched an episode of Alias in over twenty-four hours. I'm going through withdrawal.
It's funny, I finally get off my butt and make something showing the similarities between Alias and Pretender and immediately thereafter I find something completely independent of those similarities to fixate on so I can enjoy Alias entirely on its own merits for the first time ever. Of course a full-on obsession was going to follow.
It's all
jjverse's fault, actually. The Big Bang challenge finally took care of the good old tP/Alias fixation and the In The End challenge sent me off on my new tangent. I'm more than 3/4 of the way finished with the third season in my rewatch and I've used up two full pens and a third of a composition notebook taking notes on Jack Bristow's character and other tidbits relevant to the 'What if Jack was really Rambaldi?' theory. It's the most complete study of a character I've ever done, in long hand no less. I don't really know what I'll do with it, but it'll be nice to have it all in one place.
This reminds me of when I had a major, major revelation about a Pretender theory and I still haven't gotten anywhere near this far with note-taking for that. I like tiny little twists that make me look at something I know very well in a brand new way. I think I will do Pretender next, once I trudge my way through season 4 and 5 of Alias and my writing hand recovers. I've been meaning to do a rewatch for a long time, and at least I'll be in the note-taking groove. That stuff I will type up, because I'm still half in love with the theory and I still haven't run into anyone else with the same one. It's very complex, though, and I've tried and failed to summarize it in the past. I need to stay on-topic when I take notes so I don't overwhelm myself and give up again.
